Kewpie was founded in 1919 by Toichiro Nakashima, who was inspired by the flavors of orange marmalade and mayonnaise during his travels in the UK and the US. In 1925, the company launched KEWPIE Mayonnaise and became a staple of Japanese food and culture!

Sonny Angel, launched in 2004, started out as an 18-centimeter (7-inch) doll and had been inspired by the character Kewpie.
